I heard that on the radio. Shame, great memories of his songs. Reminds me of the computer I had at the time, mum used to play his songs alot.
I played his songs yesterday while I was working on stuff in the office.
Pretty good age. A voice to remember.

Yes, I doubt there are many who don't remember his most popular songs.

Like Glen Campbell he transcended so many genres, jazz bassist, psychedelia with The First Edition (who can forget the dream sequence in The Big Lebowski) and not forgetting the anthem for tyre fitters the world over, "You picked a fine time to leave me loose wheel".

Interesting! He had a more varied career than I realised! So sad.
Very much, not many people realise he was a Jazz bassist (and a bloody good one from the footage I've seen) and that "Islands in the Stream" was actually written by the Bee Gees. My favourite of his is "Coward of the County" because it reminds me of Stafford.
