Why Not Classics is thrilled to offer you this absolutely gorgeous 1974 Pontiac Trans Am L75 - finished in its factory correct Buccaneer Red exterior wrapped around a gorgeous factory correct white seats interior with red carpet. The Trans Am is the last mohican for the American muscle car era. 1974 was such a season of turmoil in the automotive industry. The super motor SD-455 made it"s swan song appearance, the likes of which has yet to return. A fresh appearance was the big marketing news of "74. Trans Am"s sales finally soared, and after the 1974 season, the T/A would be all alone. is certainly one of the most iconic car body styles ever produced, period!

The Pontiac Firebird Trans Am took on a new, more aerodynamic shape. The deformable endura bumper was gone, replaced with an unfriendly fibreglass front end and rubber covered 5-mph bumpers. The look came off actually quite good when you look at the solutions to the new federal standards integrated into other cars of the period. Even the Camaro, whose basic layout was shared with the Firebird platform, took on an awkward, heavy look. If you look at the other Pontiacs, most notably the LeMans/Grand Am series at the time, their bumpers, like the Firebird"s were well integrated as well.
When you open the driver"s door and slide into the perfect & factory correct white bucket seats interior you can"t help but feel like it"s 1974 all over again! All of the gauges, lights, blinkers, clock etc. work perfectly. This care was completely restored with very few miles put on it after the restoration. The car is loaded from factory with power steering, disc brakes, tilt wheel, air condition, am/fm radio-original, etc.
Open the hood and nestled inside the beautiful detailed engine bay you will find the matching numbers V8 L75 455ci rated at 250HP. The engine still has factory emission air control canister. True dual exhausts made their final appearance on the 1974 Trans Am. Next year, the requirement of the catylitic converter would replace this image of performance.

This is matching numbers car. It starts, idles, runs, drives & performs beautifully in every way, and is an absolute BLAST to drive! It has plenty of power & torque, and the automatic transmission shifts precisely throughout the gears! On the road it drives straight & true, with no issues whatsoever.

The Pontiac Firebird Trans Am became the American automobile industry"s only performance coupe (save the Corvette) after 1974. Chevrolet killed the Z28. The Barracuda and Challenger met their demise. AMC"s Javelin"s fate followed the Chrysler pair. And as for the Mustang, the car that started it all, it was now based on the PINTO!, with a top engine offering of a 105 horsepower 2.8 litre V6. Thank you Pontiac.
