Manhood Classics April Newsletter.

As I am sure you are aware we have decided that, moving forward we must make our Manhood Classic car group into a formal club and are delighted to inform you that our inaugural AGM of our new club took place last week and the brief minutes of the meeting are here for you to read.

Membership will cost just £5 per year, payable from April. You will receive a membership card with membership number and this will entitle you to various benefits from some our sponsors. To join, you can attend any of our meetings and pay in cash or simply click on this link from our website, complete the membership form and a payment link will be sent to you - https://www.manhoodclassiccars.com/membership-form

All new members will be added to a new mail shot group and will be updated from there and the website. In due course, the existing newsletter group will close but we will of course, give you plenty of time to join us officially before this happens.

“Manhood Classics” (new club from April 4th 2024)

Held at Selsey Football Club 7pm

Former chairman, Les Payne opens the meeting at 7.30pm welcoming those attending at this inaugural AGM numbering 37.

Les explained the plan for the formation of the new club to be an unincorporated association, this being a popular choice for similar non profit or charitable groups of this nature but with a formal constitution to be known as Manhood Classics.

Les reported on the treasurers presentation of the financial position of the formal group which started 1st January 2024 showing a healthy balance carried over to the new club Manhood Classics this is to include the generous GoFundMe donations. Details were made available to everyone attending.

There were discussions and proposals of the elections of the Executive Officers (5)

Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Social media/Membership and Events Coordinator.

It was proposed and unanimously agreed that the previous Chairman, Secretary, Social media/Membership and the Events Coordinator should continue with the new group. The position of Treasurer was proposed and accepted in her absence as Hannah Bridger.

In addition to the Executive Officers, five further committee members were proposed and elected as follows Les Jewis, Trevor Fitzwilliam, Joe Bridger, Martin Humphries and Keith Groves who will support the club as required and in particular with the annual Summer show. The roles are for a period of two years.

Trustees to be Les Payne and Krys Stokes to support the treasurer, Hannah Bridger.

Auditors to be appointed in due course.

The constitution was duly signed by the Executive Officers and all members present.

Krys Stokes and Maxine Payne enrolled 42 founder members to the club who will receive their club membership cards in due course.

Krys explained regarding membership cards and discounts proposed available from our sponsors. Further details to be found on the website.

Barry Twitchen – events - went on to explain events coming up in April and May.

The meeting then closed at 9pm.

Regarding our meetings at East Beach Car park, we await to hear the new policy from CDC on Tuesday 16th April and hope to be able to work through this for a positive outcome .

In the meantime, we do hope that you are able to join us on Sunday 21st April for National Drive It Day. Leaving Selsey at 9.30 am we will 'collect' others along the way and make our way via a given route to The George, Finchdean (near Rowlands Castle) where breakfast and refreshments can be purchased. We then make our way back to Ellis Square, Selsey. Full details on our website or contact Barry on 01243 601810.

Finally, we have just 4 places left on our club stand at the Basingstoke Festival of Transport day on Sunday May 19th. It is a full family day with lots to see and do. Again, please contact Barry as soon as possible if you would like to join us.

Thanks for taking the time to read all the way through! Looking forward to new beginnings for Manhood Classics

Les, Barry, Krys and the team
