My Audi front supenssion and MOT advisory

My Audi A4 S Line, had a mot advisory on top suspension arms and and front discs and pads we new about brakes as posted before but as in lockdown for a year car not being used, so as still not out of covid might as well sort this all out FEK what a PITA,

How the mot inspector saw the small split in rubber bushes but fair play to him so as their are 2 on the top each side ordered all 4 110quid later and as i was having to take the front strut out to change dad said check strut they look very rusty so when out pushed the strut down one was slow to return other other didnt return great so 138quid later and had to order my disc and pads got deal on these 75quid so the fun starts with trying to remove top bolt to the top ball joint arms what a PITA and to end it all the suspension leg broke see where bolt goes or dosnt now this was fun getTing a replacement OEM non in uk over 300quid non OEM

175 quid plus PP 2nd scrap yards via find my part wanted 345quid 2nd hand not a chance robbing bar stalls they are, manage to get a 2nd hand one what i thought was coming from IPSWITCH but was from Polland 110quid also had to change the tie rod and well as getTing that of again was fun 22quid later so we now have passenger side all sorted with new struTnew upper arms and disc and pads great so onto the replacement leg to get the old arms off and remove Speed sensor abs sensor and brake pad sensor cable fek bolt had to be cut of and redrilled M6 and arms out so already so finally took the old leg off car and removed lower arms 1st one easy 2nd bit of ply one off not happy so ordered new lower arm 45quid should be hear Tuesday then can be put back on and car on the road again , picture heavy, so what would this all of cost in a garage 2nd morgage lol,,,,

And had to buy a few consumables as well

Just ordered new m12 x 1.5 thread dia will pick up the nylocks tomorrow. You can see the strut hasn't returned to normal position you could feel very small difference when you do the bounce test when on the car.managed to find a allen head bolt for the sensor that i had to tap as a bolt head wouldnt work due to the sensor moulding old one was a allen head, Also the pry bar need to replace might even treat myself to a new copper hammer as well,
what should of been a basic easy job has turned into a mini project,

Hopefully wen this lower arm. Turns up will be on the home straight. From a few splits in the arm bushes lead to all of this what a project its about 430quid in parts and consumables.

Getting all back together but noticed the front engine mount doh another part to order

£10 for new rubber mount so that not bad just got to wait on delivery now,

I really should try and bet my old Cooper back on the road. She turned 30 last week! Been sat in my parents garage for 15 of those.

Flat battery on Audi left the bonnet up with doing all this work had trickle charger on it yesterday. fek this wind chill is getting worse outside whens this snow coming that they keep talking about?

You need a heated garage. When it gets really hot the pit can be converted to a hot tub.

You got the Hot tube i got the river to jump in lol, close the door fan heater if i need it suprised how warm it is with door closed,
what a project this is being from a advisory of upper arms with rubber bushes starting to perish and new brakes to finding other parts worn and braking and waiting on parts ,the money spent could of paid for the NOZ kit for the TA DOH,

Went out to garage and fitted save doing it at weekend

Well from noticing the engine rubber being cracked and dropping car back onto the tyres so car can now be reversed car off ramp and out on to road get a clonk noise so back on ramp and one of the old bottom arm bushes gives wayon the side thats had hardly anywork so new arm ordered and now fitted fekking car so now back on its wheels again checked all bolts and set tracking up and test drive finally a working car again.

Alot of work and parts going into this Audi. Hopefully it will last you 10years with nothing else to going wrong.

It's been a fight I must say with parts breaking expect that on older rustier cars and waiting on parts again some parts been a pain to get wouldn't off expected that from audi but all sorted now as you say hopefully last for some time???? But thinking b4 all of this to part x against something else but don't know wat at the moment
