Purchased a 1983 Pontic Firebird TransAm

Had another play with center caps today. Had a delivery of black ABS yesterday, good for 87c before it starts to deform.
Got a little creative by adding a firebird in the middle. Went for White as the car is white.

I will eventually buy the original replacements, but realistically its going to be near on £200 for 4. These 3D printed ones cost £1.36 each to print. So will do a temprary turn for now.

Whipped up a youtube videos of the center caps.

Toped up with 30.64 litres.
Last time I filled up I had done 79781, today 79903
122miles on 30.64litres, which is 6.74gallons
That's 18.1mpg.
Some round town, once to meon hut, once to Alton. So sone if it runs, only 10miles perhaps on motorway.
I'm happy with that. Similar to the purple one or maybe the white one slightly better.

Going to this. Booked Wednesday off work. The Pontiac owners club reached out that they needed a 3rd gen firebird for the photoshoot. Well I have one of those in the garage. Wouldn't it be awesome to get this in a magazine to mark the current stage of the cars life after being stored for 6 years.

Pontiac celebrates its 100th anniversary this year and Kelsey Publishing, who own Classic American, Classics World and Classic Car Buyer Magazines are focusing on this milestone in forthcoming issues. The Pontiac Owners Club (UK) have agreed to arrange for particular cars which highlight the history of the brand to be featured on the front cover, as well as individual articles and real-world driving reviews.
The publishers are asking for very specific vehicles so we are individually reaching out to those who own something suitable for the photo shoot.
However, there's a great opportunity for all of us as we would like to invite you to attend in your Pontiac so we can park up together and set up as a club stand, offering refreshments to the magazine staff and giving them a space where they can conduct interviews. This is a chance for us to showcase the club and share our love for these cars and what it's really like to own and drive one in 21st century Britain. Although we can't all have our car on the front cover, they may take some other photos for an article on the club itself.
It's all happening at the South of England Showground, RH17 6TL (near Crawley, West Sussex) on Wednesday 28th October 2026 from 10.00am until 3.00pm. The location features private roads and undercover spaces in case the weather isn't ideal. We do understand that some of you may be unable to attend due to it being a weekday but strongly encourage those than can to come along as an opportunity like this may not happen again
