Horsham AmeriCARna 24th Sept 2017

Decided to give it a miss. The format of the show doesn't work for us.
Enjoy if you go, and get pictures to keep Darren happy.

Seen a list of who has entered, Its not a huge list.
Don't know if the linky will work:- Dropbox - Registered Vehicle
There are a few people that said they are going, but not listed in this, so perhaps its not a complete list. I was expecting the show to be bigger. Perhaps space is an issue.

They want people to meet at point A, then drive down to point B ready for their vehicle classes departure time to convoy to point C the show ground. The first class of vehicles in is the last class of vehicles out. The modern muscle class only gets 2 hrs at the show ground so it's pointless. We would miss the opportunity to see the other stuff and spend more than double the time the car is on display traveling to and from the site.
If space is such a limitation then narrow the breadth of attraction.
I'm not going to waste my time and 2/3 tank of fuel for such a short window.
I hope it works out for them, but equally I hope that a revised format is put into place for next year.

same here i did register but after that got about half dozen emails with updates and to me its to much faffing about for my liking ! off to tangmere instead much easier

Sounds like the Horsham show was a good event. Hopefully some of our club members will show photos (Jennie).

I registered and got a reply to say thanks for registering. That wasn't to say we had been accepted though, just registered. Got another email to say we had got in and our pass colour, along with the timings and where we would be parked for the day. Didn't mind getting the emails as it meant we knew exactly where we needed to be and at what time. The organisers also included local eating places, parking for non display cars and other info. Very useful.
Our group, Modern Muscle, left the P&R at 11.20 and drove in convoy into the town centre. There were people all along the roads in the town centre taking photos and videos. Loads of people looking at the cars once they were parked too. At around 3pm we got a text to thank us for showing the car and that we were ok to leave when we were ready.

Having different groups of cars in different parts of the town made it interesting too. And there were other things going on as well, which meant there were other things to look at.

All in all it was a great show and well organised. Hope to go back next year.

Sounds like a good event, thanks for posting. I'll be up for next year.

I have to totally agree! Dean and I received several emails which were full of useful information about the whole day. It was great having a motorcycle escort from the P&R, stopping traffic and covering the traffic lights for us. We were parked in Market Square with the other customs & hot rods. Parked respectfully with plenty of room for everyone to walk around the car safely. The public were extremely interested in all of the cars and I don't think that we have been asked so many questions by people before! The live music was playing on the bandstand, including line dancing and Elvis! When we left, all of the roads were lined at least 5 deep with people taking photos and video, it was such a fantastic atmosphere. If this is planned again for next year and is anything like as good as it was this year, it is a must! We have already registered interest for next year.
I will try to link my photos for you.

Glad you enjoyed it too. They got a lot of stick about the arrangements but it worked perfectly. All those cars arriving at 9am with the organisers trying to park them would have been a nightmare. Staggering the arrival made it much easier to get parked. We will be going next year hopefully

We arrived at 8.45 to leave at 9.00. This worked perfectly, nice and easy tour into the town, parked properly before any of the vehicles got too hot. Leaving was even easier, such a great procession of American cars leaving the town!

I'm sure it will be a good show. It's just the format of it with only certain vehicles on display at any one time. The cars will be in the show ground for 2hrs 'ish and that's the same as
One way of the journey.
Add in the return journey and the waiting time for the convoy in plus the fact the classes
Means the club is separated........
Not sure but thinking about it.

The cars were all on display at the same time in various parts of the town centre. It was just the arrival of the different groups that was staggered. So everyone was parked up from 11.45am til at least 3pm. There wasn't an escort out of the town centre, we were free to leave anytime we wanted after 3. There were 4 from Renegades there and we were parked with 1 of them. But to be honest it was great to meet people from other clubs and look at cars we haven't seen before. Everyone with a common interest :D

We were a bit later but still had plenty of time to look round all the cars (would have had longer if we hadn't gone in the pub)! When we were parking they told us to make sure and leave plenty of room round the car so we could get in and out without problems. There would have been room for more cars if we had had to park closer but it was good not to have to.

Glad you all had a good time, but suffice to say you will Never please everyone and I am quite glad I didn't bother with a 5hour journey for such a short time on-site and I dare say most others wouldn't either. But then I guess that's the issue with not being a local to the events.
They received stick for the timings? Not from me despite the fact that I think it's silly.

where your car was parked behind you about 200 yard is horsham musium any of you go?
if you had walked up to denne road and denne parade would of gone into the old market town this would of then brought you out by the band stand where some cars would of been some nice shops around there.

I have added a photo album - horsham car show. Not sure how to link to it?

I think that it was great to have room to move around every car. There was no worry about people squeezing past, even when there were so many people interested and looking.

Thanks for photo's :thumb::first:
