After walking the dry river bed yesterday see other thread , made me wonder about the elan valley thought i already had a thread for this but cant find it,
so will upload pictures from today there is not much water in the dams missed the turning for the top gear dam with the land rover driving up,
but as you can see very little water and you can see why they say dont go jumping into the rivers when rivers are full,

That's not looking good. You have a post on 'Llyn Clywedog' Dam, perhaps that was what you were thinking of.

Liyn clywedog dam is in the local news as its in just as bad state with low water level.. The pictures with all the rocks you just wouldn't know any of that was there with normal water levels..

wow that is low.
Does the dam generate electric?

Don't know about electric but there is a pumping station opposite to the visitor center. They have a camera on the 1st dam for when it flows over top as its such a site to see its such a big change in differant seasons but never seen it like this b4. Being this low high lights what's under the water normally

Went to ellan Valley again this weekend nearly 2 years ago looking at this thread the dams don't really look like they have recovered water used to flow over the top of the dams and through the arches and repair work still going on and water level in some areas has got less but the is some new wood carvings on the side of the road going to one of the 6 dams.

Great to see the updated pictures from years ago.
Does the dam generate electric? Could they be generating more power to supply the growing number of houses? Causing lower levels?
Looks like a nice place to visit.

A lot of the Welsh reservoirs were built to supply clean water to Liverpool.

Well done Chris you know your history. Lake vynary (spelt wrong lol) think is the main dam that feeds Liverpool not sure if one of the dams at ellan Valley is just having repair work or is also hydro electric the is a station at the vistory center of elan valley. They have also this year let so water out to help the river why around Hereford and Ross on why due to pollution and help wildlife it has been on the news. Yes some of the dam lakes you can walk around you can see why the put danger signs up about jumping into river if you can see the rocks exposed and the shapes the water has created imagion when the level is back upto normal levels you just wouldn't it was there.
