Andy, if you like the Transporter films, you may like The Mechanic, I thought it was pretty good.

Trace, I'm going to see Drive Angry 3D on Saturday at Vue, I think it'll be one of the last times to catch it at a cinema, anyone else want to join me and make some noise in the gun wharf underground car park

I can't believe how short a time movies are on at the cinemas these days. We have a wedding to go to tomorrow so won't be able to make it. Looks like a DVD night instead. Let us know how it is.

what??? 11:30pm thats like the middle of the night for me. Anyways it will be a hectic day and i would love to have come and see it but i will probably be in la la land by then. Have fun :)

well all the above films but like under siege cause we been on the ss missurri ? fink i spelt it wrong lol, and steven segull is cool to but pretty woman is a must leggsy roberts mmmm and yeh a film nite to see drive angry would be good,

:( not happy now if you say its that bad. Not a Nic Cage fan myself but i guess i was expecting something like Gone in 60 Seconds. One of my all time faves.
Oh well i will still watch it to say i've seen it. Thanks for the review D :)

I was hoping for something along the lines of gone in 60 seconds too, but it was more like ghost rider (which i like) only it wasn't as good and that the movie was really more about "hey, look what we can do with 3D!" Don't get me wrong, some of it was really cool, but I was definitely expecting a lot more car-based scenes and 3D car stunts rather than "how real does this guy's blown off leg look in 3D!"

I know it sounds strange, but the movie probably would have been better if it had a different, non-car based title.

Has anyone seen and more good car movies recently?

I see there is another titanic out at the moment, do they just remake the same film but using newer technology?

This is a short list of movies that any car petrolhead would enjoy, not listed in any particular order. I have focused on those movies that are based around the cars, rather than just feature the cars. I have also focused on those films where the car or cars in question are beautiful, iconic, cool or desirable.

1794_180x180_1.jpg
Film:Bullitt
Year:1968
Star cars:1968 Mustang GT 390, 1968 Charger
Storyline:San Francisco has been the setting of a lot of exciting movie car chases over the years, but this 1968 police thriller is still the one to beat when it comes to high-octane action on the steep hills of the city by the Bay. The outstanding car chase earned an Oscar for best editing, but the rest of the movie is pretty good, too.

McQueen plays the American driver, locked in an intense grudge match with his German counterpart even as he wrestles with the guilt over causing an accident that cost the life of a close friend. McQueen is his usual stoic magnetic self, and the racing sequences are among the best ever committed to film.

Film:The Cannonball Run
Year:1981
Star cars:Ferrari 308 GTS, Lamborghini Countach and Aston Martin DB5.
Storyline:Wide varieties of characters participate in an illegal cross-country road race. It’s a hilarious comedic chase as the eccentric participants are willing to do anything to win.

Film:Goldfinger
Year:1964
Star cars:Aston Martin DB5
Storyline:Goldfinger contains many of the most memorable scenes in the Bond series: gorgeous Shirley Eaton (as Jill Masterson) coated in gold paint by evil Auric Goldfinger and deposited in Bond’s bed; silent Oddjob, flipping a razor-sharp derby like a Frisbee to sever heads; our hero spread-eagle on a table while a laser beam moves threateningly toward his crotch. Honor Blackman’s Pussy Galore is the prototype for the series’ rash of man-hating supermodels.

Film:The Italian Job
Year:1969
Star cars:Mini Coopers, Lamborghini Miura
Storyline:Michael Caine, the enterprising swindler has an ingenious plan to steal a huge cache of Chinese gold to be shipped to Turin as collateral for a new Fiat plant. Since the Italy-Great Britain soccer match is being played at the same time, Caine wants to create a diversion in the form of a monumental traffic jam. A motley crew is assembled, including Benny Hill as a computer expert with a fetish for large-breasted women. It’s all a nasty and fun parody, with the most memorable robbery-chase sequence in the history of the caper genre.

Film:The Fast and the Furious
Year:2001

Storyline:Cop goes undercover in L.A.’s import street-race scene to bust a ring of electronics thieves.

Storyline:Antihero, with help from a blind DJ, tries to deliver a car in record time.

Film:Days of Thunder
Year:1990
