New pump has arrived today. This is part of my tuning stuff. My old 255lph@40psi pump is quite old now. I@m running around 82% of its capacity, little room for overheads, like volt drops etc.
My new AEM one has arrived today, 340lph@40psi, is around 310lph@58psi. Draws around 12amps, the current one is 9-10amps. I'll be upgading cabling. Also add a relay switch near the pump. the original relay will operate my new relay. Minimal changed to the original wiring. I aim to take a 10AWG power feed from the battery(fused right next to the battery)
More pictures coming for the install. Could be a few weeks out yet.
Before fitting this new pump, I will change the fuel pressure regulator, that sits in the tank right next to the pump. Only going into the tank once. Not been in there for around 15+ years. My fuel pressure regulator is as old as the car. Its a cheap enough part. Ordered from rock auto. It is on its way, but took a wrong turn. Must have been cheaper to go via Dublin then Germany before arriving at Castle donnington before it got stuck going towards Penzance.
I have other things to do before fitting the pump and regulator, like running in a new thicker power wire, and a relay near the pump. I have the wire and relay ready to go. Need to look where I can fit the relay, ideally right next to the connector for the pump. Weather that will be in the car behind the seat where the wires go out the car to the tank, or on top of the tank. I'll take a look. This is the relay, comes with the connector and wires attached, even a mounting bracket if I choose to use it.
