A few more optimising things have been implemented like using nGinx to generate web pages, this had been installed by the web hosting company. Whether this update had something to do with it or not. I got them to restart the web service which got the website running again. Hopefully it wont happen again.

Yep, fingers crossed. The idea was to make the website faster and more efficient, with that Google indexes more pages and you rank higher, with that more visitors will come. however with the website down, people who come may not try again.
