sva test required?

hello

my names danny on isle of wight and am buying a 1958 chevy apache pick up from the states, my first time of doing this and wanted to know if an sva test is required on this vehicle. only info i can find states only cars under 10 years old require the test, is this correct? if so, what changes if any would i need to make to the vehicle such as lights etc. any help greatly appreciated

Hi Danny and welcome.

You will not need a SVA due to the trucks age. For the same reason, you can keep the red indicators if you wish. Not sure about headlights but I think you can get away with a 'Flat' beam. My Mustang has 7" Mini headlamps fitted so the dip goes the right way. You may find a similar conversion for yours will work. Depends on how flexible your MOT man is. Although the truck is tax exempt you will still have to get a 'Free' disk and you will require a MOT and insurance for that.
