Planning to fix the Camaro

It was a task I got into a couple of years ago. The 1991 Camaro int he carage has been off the road for 10 years.

Fuel tank removed and new pump fitted. Getting great pressure on the fuel rails. Checked the ECU was energicing the injectors with an occiliscope. Even ran 12V direct to the fuel injctor and could hear it click. The car would run on flamable gas sprayed into the intake. So it would seem the injectors are blocked, no fuel seen coming out of them. Also there is a leak in the fuel lines. Probably all the fuel that was in there has evaporated.

So my plan. Measure the external diamter of the pipes, it was just under 10mm to the fuel line and 8mm return to the tank. This woulds be imperial, so worked out to be 3/8" and 5/16". I needed pipe, there is a blend of Nickel/Copper mix named as Kunifer seemed to be the best for durability and bendability. Its fairly tough stuff, so would need a bending tool and all that.

Talked to AI, and it found Wrights Auto Supplied would do most of the stuff I needed.

Ordered the following from https://wrightsautosupplies.co.uk

After further research I then sounds I needed a douple flaring tool that does 45degrees, this is a GM standard. So the flaring tool above may come in useful for something else, but not the task I need to make the fuel line for the camaro.
Ideally I wanted a tool that can do both 3/8" and 5/16", and that is stong to beable to do that pipe. No good getting a tool that can only do copper. After much research I found the ultimate device.

This line tells me all I needed to know.

Creates Multiple Flare Types for Automotive Applications

Works with **3/16", 1/4", 5/16", 3/8", and 1/2" tubing** to create 45° single and double flares, push connect flares, GM fuel line flares, and ISO bubble flares. **Perfect for brake, fuel, and transmission line repairs**.

Fair bit of cost. It will come in useful for doing the brake pipes at a later date too.

The fuel pipe is rolled up, so need a way to straighten it. Ordered this pipe straightener as it was the only one that could do 3/8" and 5/16".

All this expence was due to Darren telling me to get on and fix the Camaro. Plus AI Co-Pilot told me "it is about time you got onm and fixed the camaro" I sometimes ask Co-Pilot a question, it seems to answer like a person. Very useful at times, expecially for research, exploring different avenues, weighting up what is best.

One other think I brought is an ultrasonic tank and cleaning fluid.

My plan is to take off the 6 injectors and let them get cleaned in this bit of kit. i recon with there being a hold in the fuel lines, fuel has evaporated and left gummy stuff in the injectors.

This could be a winter project.

Pipe has arrived

Looking closer at the jobbie, it looks like it can do the SAE double 45 degree.

Going to have loads of fun with this.

Well done. You need to copy and paste the part about AI saying about time. . You might need a better pipe cutter it's OK for copper but for heavy duty pipe might be OK 1 or 2nd time but it will blunt very quickly. And you get to put more tools in your new work bench 👍

Ps will all know how long your planning takes lol so it will be another update progress report mybe in the next leap year??????? 😂
