I liked those too. Nice old shape. Never owned one though.
My favourite was the Opel Manta 400. A flying machine homologated for rallying..

I once had a Manta in 1996, had it painted bright yellow. Had a lot of work done to it considering I had only been driving for 6 months. I brought it as spares to fix my mk1 cavalier, the manta had had an accident, slid on its side and hit a tree on the Marriot hotel roundabout near Cosham. Turned out it had more going for it than the cavalier so had it all repaired and an engineers report to get it back on the road. After all that I saw an 89 Firebird on a forecourt 6 months later and brought that, still kept the manta for about a year before giving it away. I did like the manta., it wasn't the GTE but did have the same body kit, the engine was from a cavalier Sri 130, with bits from a Carlton to make it RWD.
I first saw a Manta when B reg was new when I was at school it was silver, probably the first silver car I had seen. Looked so futuristic at the time.
