Flew in yesterday had night inside garage and next morning just did not want to fly out doors open most of the day yesterday and today.

Had squirrel by back do yesterday did have 5 in garden until the other day found one by the decking also saw minx running along fence by river with something in its mouth a mole or mouse? 1st time seeing a minx same sort of size to a ferret.

Wasps I think yellow jacket or nornet only tend to see one a year and they are large. Had next in mower shed a few years a go

Biggest one yet I have seen in stream behind my garage it was making its way to the main river not seen many this year
I never knew you would see them in fresh water. Are you going to fatten it up, and have it for lunch one day?

With all this rain we have had the river hasn't come up that much but is flowing much quicker wonder if Welsh water has done something up stream or down stream to help as river is c km classed SSi site of scientific interest.

Chris, getting that shot out of 16 tries sounds about right for birds that won't sit still. Sarah's point about the big ones catching on once you feed the little ones is the part I keep thinking about — seems like a trade-off anyone with a feeder eventually faces. The squirrel versus smaller bird standoff is a whole other layer. Does anyone here do anything specific to keep the balance, or just let the garden sort itself out?
