Cars we've owned?

Like us all probably, I sometimes think back to cars I've had in the past. I was quite late getting into Yanks and had mostly British cars before. I particularly remember my MK1 Granada's.
Just wondering what cars others have owned and look back on on?

Before I could drive I used to cycle to New Road in Portsmouth to help my granddad, i was at college at the time, I wrote a database for his stock control on a 8088 PC so it was a very old PC, little RAM. anyway that turned into a college project I got a distinction for. When the stock control was done we worked on his car, a MK1 cavalier KWL117W. He showed me how to do tappets, welding, well wasn't so good at welding was chasing a hole and setting the carpet alight. A year or so later I passed my driving test and he gave me his car as a present. It was great to have a first car.

1996ish - Mk Cavalier KWL117W
1996/97 - Opel Manta 'B' reg. (B669 RPR?) Bright Yellow, perhaps my Sponge Bob feeling started then before Spopnge Bob came about..
1997 to 2003/2004ish - 3rd Gen Pontiac Firebird, F522VVC or F552VVC https://www.solent-renegades.co.uk/media/albums/1989-pontiac-firebird.171/
2002 to present 4th Gen Pontiac Firebird.

So withing the 1st year of Driving I was on my 3rd car and my first Yank. I brought it as it looked great on the forecort of the garage, I new nothing about it, it just looked great and had to buy it, i later found out it was American and left hand drive. lol.

Insutrance was interesting £1200 a year TPFT for the Opel Manta, yet the 3rd Gen firebird in the same year was £700 full comp. I asked why was insurance so much cheaper, and they said as its left hand drive it less likely to be stolen for joy riding.

I had a moped at 16, then from 17 a 100cc trail bike. That was a Suzuki TSER100 which I bought new on HP. I think it was £600 at £30 a month over 2 years lol. I passed my bike test on it.
I passed my driving test in a Hillman Avenger. We were always a Ford family and the first car I had the use of was my Mum's Ford Consul Classic like the one below.

I only had one Cortina, a Mk5. I always fancied a Capri but never got one. My mate had a 2.8 injection which was quite quick and a handful in the wet lol

I have had:

Mk3 Golf when I passed my test in 2003.
Mk2 Golf GTI 6 months later
Calibra 5 months after that
Mk1 Nova when the Calibra was off the road whilst I did an engine swap.
Mk2 Astra GTE (The one I regret selling)
2005 Astra Sports hatch (my first brand new car)
2007 Astra VXR
1991 Camaro
Corsa C when the Camaro went off the road and I needed wheels
Mk5 Golf when the Corsa was rear ended and written off
And then finally my 2009 S40
Also in there was my Hyosung 125cc bike!!

Excellent!! It's amazing that you have pics of them. I mostly don't, but wish I had taken them.
Your bike looked massive for a 125 👍
I should have included bikes in my post as I'm sure some of us have owned a few.

It was the size of a 600 and totally gutless haha! It took me from the Fareham junction of the M27 to Port Solent to get to 76 on her! I was open throttle the whole looooong way. It was a nice bike though.

It look me a while to find the photos but I'm lucky Dad had a Camera back in the day so I got to take some.

Lol. Sounds like the performance of my Suzuki TS ER100 I had. The most I got from that was 65 and it left a trail of 2 stroke smoke behind. It was like riding a Red Arrow! haha.
They did them in 50, 100, 125, 185 and 250cc. I wanted to get the 185 but my Mum had to be guarantor for the HP and wouldn't sign for it as she said it looked too big and dangerous, so I had to have the 100 lol.
This is identical to it...

The Mk5 Cortina I mentioned owning was a 1.6 auto which was pretty gutless. Also, it had an intermittent fault with the auto box where it sometimes wouldn't go into reverse. It was pretty embarrassing if someone parked too close and I sometimes had to get out and push it back to get out of the space! 😆

you can see why sarah is on the dark side with all them vauxhalls lol,,,,,,,,,

Ask Sarah how may she got rid off as they were written off.

How many then???????

Cheeky git!! I haven't written off any of my cars.

The guy who bought my Mk3 Golf wrote it off. The Calibra was written off by a woman who came on a roundabout and caved in the passenger side, who said "I didn't see you" and finally the Corsa was written off by a BMW driver who thought he could get through me and the Audi in front to jump a red light.....The Corsa's rear end put a stop to that.

So Dan, the answer to your question is ZERO lol, but 3 have been written off by no fault of mine....

.....guess who's sleeping in the garage tonight 😂😂

I guess my two favourite cars were my blue Ford Consul GT 3.0, followed very closely by my Triumph Dolomite Sprint. These aren't the actual cars...

He sleeping with his wife tonight then lol.

Should get Mark Heiford to list all of his, that will test the maximum message size.

Too many to list i am afraid but these are the makes,Ford,Volvo,Classic mini,Chevrolet,Pontiac,Nissan,Opel

I had a Fiat 128, a classic Mini, a couple of Metros, a Jeep Grand Cherokee, a Nissan Terrano, 3 Pontiacs and 3 Hondas. The rest were all Fords, most of which were Sierras! I think I've had 8 Sierras lol.

Ford man at heart then lol.
