This year its on the Bank holiday Monday. We will be meetings at Morrison in Horndean to leave at 9.15am.
This is an email we are sure you have been expecting and may sound all too
familiar! We have been watching the Government guidelines and updates very
closely as well as in dialogue with the local Council's Environmental Health
and Licensing teams getting advised as to what we should do next.
We have now received official guidance that we still cannot put on our
upcoming Summer Festival.
We were always going to make the right decision at the right time with the
right guidance to protect public safety and of course to do our best by all
of you. We even went to Environmental Health with a proposal for turning the
event into an outdoor market only to try and see if we could hold a scaled
down event. From previous experience with the popularity of our events
though, it was deemed it would be impossible to keep everyone safe in
Petersfield Town Centre especially with the current road restrictions
already going on down the High Street and in the square. We are completely
gutted we are going to have to cancel another event, but sadly it's
completely out of our hands.
Obviously the current climate is having a catastrophic impact on the events
industry. This year is certainly being very hard for us all with the virus
itself, with lockdown and the social distancing restrictions still in place
now and so we are doing everything we can to make sure we survive this awful
uncertain time and can organise our events for many years to come.
For almost a decade we have been putting on our awesome events for the
people of the Petersfield and surrounding area to enjoy and are of course
devastated with having to cancel as we take so much pride in everything we
Over the years, we could not have done this without the awesome attractions
like yourselves and so we thank you for your desire to have joined us at the
Petersfield Summer Festival and helping to build our community which will be
even more important going forward. Together we can support each other
through the difficult months ahead to ensure there is a future at the other
side of all this.
We are of course devastated with having to cancel as we take so much pride
in our events and yet we hope you will be more than happy to roll over your
support into 2021 when we will bring back the show bigger and better than
was due to happen this year.
