USAutomotive Yanks Weekend - 35th annual Gary's Picnic & Public Track Weekend.
Supported by USAutomotive, Yank?s is one of those traditional grass roots drag racing and hot rodding weekend?s packed with colour, entertainment and of course big inch American V8?s of monstrous proportions. Every year the event attracts more cars and people than ever before and with the raceway?s 40th anniversary we expect that this will continue this year! At Yanks you will find everything from classics to late model street and strip Fords, Dodges, Pontiacs and Chevrolets star in a celebration of all things US automotive!
The guys from the National Association of Street Clubs [NASC] have pledged their continued support towards the weekend with the clubs oldest drag racing and rodding event on today?s British festival calendar - the 35th annual Gary?s Picnic - a good old traditional drag racing Street Car Shootout.
Central focal point for all three days of the Bank Holiday Weekend will, of course be the drag strip. Expect to see the maddest and meanest blown drag cars on the planet; the Supercharged Outlaws. Everything from 7 second street cars to 12 second hot rods and Yanks will be hitting the strip in the only way they know how; FAST!
As with all American car shows the event relies on club participation and so far the response has been good. Last year?s event attracted big rigs, oval track racers, trucks, custom bikes and even a round of the Outlaw Street 'doorslammer? competition. And if that?s not enough to get your pulses racing then following the conclusion of the days racing on Sunday we intend to hold a burnout competition for the serious "smokers" of the weekend, while topping off the proceedings will be evening entertainment of a band and disco hosted by Kenny's Bar.
Monday Big Bucks '$' Gambling comes to the raceway in Shakespeare County?s unique Bracket Gamblers Race where the winner and runner up of a dial your own ET Bracket Race could go home with a fist full of cash, trophies and other goodies from the tracks many supporters. All makes and models from any era of the American muscle car revolution are welcome to set up a car club stand and take part in any of the on track competitions. There will also be a Trade Village and a Show & Shine arena.
So, if you own an American car and you fancy finding out how many real horses are under the bonnet, then come along to Shakey?s star spangled banner weekend. Strike a date in your diary as a must see event - May 25th/27th for the seventh annual Yanks Weekend/NASC Gary?s Picnic. It?s gonna be a blast!
