Solar energy for the future

The Solar Futures Study finds that solar energy could power about 14% of transportation end uses by 2050. This reveals just how important it is for us to increase our use of solar energy and other sustainable sources in order to meet our transportation needs. Solar power could provide a clean and stable source of electricity that would reduce emissions, improve air quality and make transport more efficient while also reducing costs. We need to ensure that the technologies behind solar energy are up-to-date, cost effective and reliable. Any thoughts about this?

Takes up a lot of land field space that then can't be used for crops

Trouble is they keep building houses on land that would be idea for solar farms. Trouble is storing the energy. There is some great storage tech coming out. some is like a salty brine which is fairly harmless if sometihng was to happen. Takes up more room that others batteries, but hold the energy for far longer.
Excess energy from Solar could charge it up, like a large capacitor on the grid, ready to be tapped into when it is required.

Selling the energy back to the grid is possible too, so long as you have permission from your electricity provider first. You may get paid for it, or you could use it to offset the electric bill on your premises.

The idea of harnessing sunshine to power our lives is definitely a no-brainer for me. It feels like switching from flickering candles to flipping on a light switch – a giant leap forward! The 14% stat for transportation is mind-blowing! [https://www.solent-renegades.co.uk/threads/solar-energy-for-the-future.52420/] Imagine a world where road trips weren't fueled by anxiety over gas prices, but by the power of the sun. We could ditch the pump and chase sunsets guilt-free!
The cost factor is a hurdle, for sure. But then again, so was the internet in its early days, and look how far we've come. Maybe there are ways to incentivize solar use, like tax breaks or rebates. Even small businesses could get on board – imagine all the solar panels lining rooftops, generating clean energy instead of just collecting dust!
