Sir Chris Hoy, the six-time Olympic cycling champion, came to grief and ended up in the straw bales during a run at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Hoy appeared to enter the unsighted Molecomb corner too quickly and went straight on, ploughing into the safety fencing on the right at barely undiminished speed.

He emerged unscathed and bowed to the crowd, who applauded his commitment.

The impact was severe enough to trigger the airbags in the Nissan GT-R Nismo he was driving. The front of the car was too severely damaged to continue.

Maybe he should have stuck to 2 wheels.

He didn't pay must attention to the hay stack he was rapidly approaching.
