Recycling broken tech stuff

I seem to have grown a large amount of broken/not quite right, electrical stuff that needs shifting. Mainly stereo amps, CD players and various other such things.

Is there any where local (Other than the dump) that can maybe strip the Gold etc., and put it to good use?

I cant think of anywhere other than the tip.
On the far left of the tip that take electrical items. Not sure what they do with them, perhaps it gets sent out to be stripped. I don't know how best to find that out other than going there.
