Things will be changing over the next few years to do with emmisions testing. The garage needs to fork out around £15k for a new machine. This is permently connected to the VOSA place, so every test done it recorded remotely.

There is also talks of cameras being installed in the MOT bay with numberplate recognition, so it automatically know what the emmisions should be for that vehicle.

All a bit big brother. So if you emmisions fails, and the garage tweaks sometihng to get the emmisions through, then VOSA know about it.

Also the ODB will be eventually connected and logs taken of the car running to check everything there too.

Loads of changes going on.

cameras and vosa link has been mentioned before , so this could meen cost of mot to rise to help pay for it but with 40 year rule more cars will hit this ever year so les cars will get tested and with the sale of electric goes getting more common again less for them to test,

19 years to go until 40 years on my car. :(

I have already been fitting/upgrading brake tester's to be connected to DVSA and the new breed of emissions tester's are internet linked too, also if a garage has an owner/name change the chance's are they will have to upgrade to continue to test
