We had an old iron gate, it was a bit mi-shaped and although would close, in the wind it could blow open. Not with having dogs it needed to be more secure, so it was cable tied shut, which means it was a faff to do anything in the front garden. So I wanted to build a gate to match the other back gate at the end of the garden.
The gate is made from 3x2inch beams of wood with a groove cut in for the t&g to slide in to. Should last a few years. Took around 5.5hours to build the gate and 2 hours to hang it, i don't know where all the time went, everything worked with no hiccups. Had to build a jig to keep the gate square. The mitre corners and the routing probably ate into my time.
