Oh my. I have done some foolish things in my time but that.....
(Says the man who helped remove coil springs from a v6 powered Granada Estate MkII by compressing them using body weight and then tieing them up with bailer twine (used for hay bails!). We got them out of the car and placed them in a field (owner was a farmer). We inserted the replacement springs in a similar fashion.
I went back over the following weekend to find one of the springs had slipped its bonds and was never found! We covered the other spring with canvas and cut its twine off to prevent damage to satellites orbiting overhead!
Fortunately no headless cows or hikers were found so nobody was assumed harmed and the coil spring is probably now long rusted in peace!)
