Which Engine Oil?

Hi,
We are nearly there on restoring out 1950 F1 truck.
The truck has a 1974 V8 302 engine with FMX automatic gearbox.
Can we please have advice on which oil to use in the engine - dipstick says SE-101-C
Thanks In advance.

Hopefully someone very knowledgeable on oil will respond but, older engines with flat tappet cams will probably benefit from an oil higher in zinc. This is because since has excellent ‘smear’ adhesion (as opposed to direct oil fed like the crank) for the rockers, as I understand it. This is contrary to modern oils which are designed around roller rockers.
You would likely do well with an oil made for Diesel engines or using something designed for petrol with an additive.
My best guess on oil weight would be 10w40.
