Here we go again boys and girls!!

For just ?10 admission and ?25 to ?sign on?, you can take your V8 out on the famous quarter-mile dragstrip and test it?s performance limits in a safe and legal environment.

Line up in the pits against a fellow V8UKer or take on Mr Joe Public and smoke his socks off!

This will be the second time V8UK hit the strip in force, this is for any type of V8 so don?t be shy about shaking the dust off your daily driver and giving it some of the loud pedal!

I?m sure in the usual spirit of V8UK events so far, we will also organise a CONVOY! to and from the event to some local food establishment? Unless Tom brings his pickup with a BBQ on the back ;)

We are aiming to get there for around 8 to set up the big red gazebo! Ask for V8UK on the gates and they should point you in the right direction.

Remember if you want to race you will need:

A vehicle (vehicles must be safe and run at the race director?s discretion).
A driving licence suitable for the type of vehicle you are driving.
A crash helmet for open top vehicles and those going over 110mph at the finish line. Arm straps required in open-top vehicles. (These can be hired from the race office)

Invite as many people you know with V8s, not everyone is racing so get them down to show their support if they don?t want to race!

If you need any more inspiration check out the write up of the first one we attended!

Is it unlimited runs for the weekend?

Also what if my car has never been over 110mph on a dragstrip, but it may do on the day. I guess I need to get/borrow a helmey just in case.

Dam will have to wait for the 3rd installment of the V8UK santa pod event

Dan Yes unlimited runs but dose depend on how busy the track is on the day 4-6 runs on average

4-6 runs sounds good to me.

I'm well up for going! My birthday :) shame my Camaro is a v6.....for now ;)

Well I'm going to take the trans-am down there. So who ever wants to watch me whizz down the track then come along.

That's if the trans-am is still in one piece by then. Looking forward to unleashing the horses. My aim is to get 12.2secs in 118mph or quicker.

This was me at Thorney

Skyline V6 twin turbo, and he purged NOS on the start line, don't know if he used it in the run. We both struggles for grip at the start, but with him being 4 wheel drive get got away quicker, the commentator thought he left me behind. Well by the end I managed to get a car length ahead. :)

awesome! for a min I thought you were going to be towing a caravan! Yeh unlimited runs for the day, should be a good laugh! Feel free to bring along the V6 Camaro Sarah, we have a few other non V8s joining us! Couple of friends of ours are bringing their Mk1 Escort (pinto) and a VW Beetle (runs NOS and a 2.2 block) so should make for some friendly competition!

Be interesting to see how the V6 Camaro does against the V8 Camaro which will be there!

She should be back on the road by then so I'll soooo be up for that! Last time I went up the strip I was in my mk2 Astra GTE about in 2005?

haha Excellent! hopefully the Camaro will go a little quicker than that!

I'd like to think so, I did 16.4 seconds at 85mph....

And Mark.....shhh!!!

Crashing in a straight line always sounds stupid but if it's going to happen anywhere it will be on a drag strip with minimal other cars around and loads of people watching haha

Nice write up. Hope you all had a great day there.

Looking at the bank, not many people there. That's makes me feel a bit more comfortable to do this, as there isn't soo many eyes watching you. lol

It gets the adrenaline going thought Dan when loads of people have their eyes peeled......when I did it at a Performance Vauxhall Show all I had going through my head was "don't stall, don't stall, don't stall" It was brilliant though!

Performance vauxhall show ?? 77 magnum 2.3 is about as good as it gets , after that vauxhall lost the plot.......lol

I was in my 1989 Astra GTE. I loved that car so much! There were always lots of Mantas and Mk1 Cavaliers....lovely :)

Mk 2 Astra gte , not bad ( dash never worked as it should ) mantas ok , the drop nose Firenza ...yes please...

Wish I could have kept my Opel Manta and dropped a V8 in it. ;)
