Pin Striping is the essential art of automotive; when done right it transforms a piece of metal into a living thing. Each stripe unique to each artist and even each piece, every piece of work is never the same. Let"s look into some of pieces and get a look into what it takes to make a pin stripe.
Because nearly every pin stripe is done by hand and usually freehanded, each one carries a flaw or stroke that can"t be replicated. While there are designs that seem to be replicated, when you look into the technique those artists create it"s never the same.
Pin striping requires a steady hand and a creative mind to accomplish. There aren"t many around who do it, but those who keep the art alive have taken years to perfect it to their standard. Designs that are very simple to those that are so intricate they create recognizable images out of the lines they create.
Take a look at this video and watch as a pin stripe artist shows how a helmet is done with his style.Tags: art, car art, design, hot rod, hot rods, pin striping, striping, Video

Must admit i like some pin striping also air brush work,

Now the work done by Mike Lavelle is true genius. He is able to bring air brushing to life. The sort of thing pictured above doesn't do it for me. I appreciate the effort and skill required but don't think I would ever want it on one of my cars.
