Hi ,
Does anyone have any info on converting a 1968 Mustang from automatic to manual transmission ,
I'm basically looking for a specialist that can do this work for me , would like to know of any recommendations for who I should use and an approximate cost ?
Thanks for any help ,
Brian

I had a friend in bedhampton who converted his 68 mustang from an auto to a manual. Had to stick in a clutch pedal and everything, he done it all himself. Not sure where you would go professionally. Atleast there are no ECU's to reprogram in that age of vehicle.

I've thought it about with the Trans-Am, but on that its bit more major. The crank has no provision for a bearing so it either means a new crank or machining to accept which is engine out. If the 403 comes out it will NOT go back in! Shame as a T5 would be really nice behind the old 403!
No idea whether Mustangs have any of the same problems to be overcome but for me thats a major stumbling block, everything else is quite simple.

Yes I second that mikes your man at modurstang

Yes, could be very interesting, get photos if you can and feel free to write a blog, it not a little write up in a forum post to let everyone know what parts were successful or difficult, always great reading for others to learn by.

Mike at Modurstang comes with a great reputation .
Adam at mustang maniac is the best IMO on classic mustangs in UK, but not cheap

Good luck
Chris

That's my sadly missed 68 now being well looked after somewhere near Coventry.
