Imported early last year. I registered the car so am the only UK owner.
It came from Motoexotica, a specialist classic car dealer in St Louis.
The car arrived with me much as expected, it"s a Colorado car so not rusty, running and driving but needing some attention.
I put the car on stands and went through it front to back and checked everything, before considering an MOT.
Four new BF Goodrich tyres, new brake shoes and cylinders, new screen washers, new horn, new stainless silencers (sounds awesome), steering valve sorted and new gaiter, all new door and boot locks, new ignition switch, full service etc etc.
Anyway the car passed first time with just 2 advisories ( since done), I registered it and used it without any issues at all for a year.
I did however feel that the engine was fuming a little and the tick over was a bit lumpy so I did a compression test and found a discrepancy on one cylinder.
Only one way to do it properly so the engine came out and I stripped it. To be fair I was surprised with what I found.... no crank wear at all, negligible bore wear, camshaft as new and all the bearings still showing their white metal facing. The only faults were one burnt exhaust valve, no valve stem seals because they had gone hard and broken up and the nylon coating on the crankshaft gear had gone brittle.
I cleaned every component up, replaced the valves, piston rings, big ends, main bearings, crank gear, cam gear and timing chain with new parts from the States and rebuilt the engine with all new seals and gaskets.
At the sma time it had a new starter, Dynamo rebuilt, new Edelbrock performer carb, alloy filter and water pump. New plugs, leads distributor cap etc and as it was easy whilst the engine was out I rebuilt the steering idler.
The car now runs superbly, no fumes, no smoke, uses no oil or water and drips absolutely nothing.
If you want a nice tidy American car that you can jump in and drive anywhere with confidence, then mine is the one.
It"s got MOT until April next year, has a good sound system, goes like a bomb, stops and steers very well and the only thing that doesn"t work is the time clock, all guages, speedo, lights, heater, fan, wipers etc work as the should.
I"m only selling because I"d like an older car, no other reason whatsoever.
