Hot Rod nostalgia at its best; a ground-up, no-expense-spared, professional build featuring the best old and nostalgic speed shop parts sourced from the USA. Built as a homage to the 1950s east coast "Show and Go" hot rods of the 1950s. Anyone who appreciates the period east coast style can see that this car draws very heavily from some of the most notable cars seen in Andy Southard"s book "Hot Rods of the 1950s".<br />

The chassis is based around American Stamping Company"s Deuce rails, a Model A front crossmember and custom tubular crossmembers. The rails were boxed in a similar style to SoCal Speed Shop"s "Step-boxed" design, allowing for neat brake lines etc. <br />

The rear frame horns were cut to accommodate a deeply channeled body and a beautiful "C" was fabricated to ensure there was sufficient axle clearence.<br />
<br />
The Rodline International body was channeled heavily over the width of the frame and a rear rolled-pan was added to it, a typical east coast trait. A Rodline International Deuce grille shell was sectioned to precisely fit the proportions of the channeled body as it sits over the chassis. A huge amount of work went into getting the stance/proportions of this car correct. Both body and chassis were painted in a custom shade of metallic gold.<br />

Suspension features a chromed, 3 inch drop I-Beam axle with a chromed transverse leaf spring. SoCal Speed Shop Hairpins locate the front end, with Stainless Steel Batwings. Front shocks are chrome Pete & Jakes. Spindles are stainless steel and front brakes are 1940 Ford hydraulic "Juice" brakes, with heavily-chromed backing plates. A Mullins Vega steering box was used for a cleaner appearence and improved steering performance. Rear suspension features a 1940 Ford transverse leaf spring. A set of custom-made stainless steel Ladder Bars locate the rear axle, which is an early Ford 9" - shortened, then fitted with 3:55:1 gears. Tires are Coker 5.60x15 front and G78x15 rear, wide whitewall Bias Ply.<br />

Powertrain features a rebuilt SBC350 with a 0.30 over-bore, mated to a shift kit-equipped TH350. Shifter is a super-long, Lokar nostalgic item. A set of finned Edelbrock valve covers and Mooneyes breathers are fitted, along with a Thickstun-type, finned air cleaner for the 4bbl Holley. A custom aluminium radiator was made to fit the sectioned grille shell. A custom stainless steel shroud is fitted around the chrome mechanical fan to promote better cooling, although I would recommend installing an electric fan. A custom aluminium fuel tank is fitted behind a pull-down flap in the trunk - allowing for clean, usable stowage in the trunk area. The fuel tank has race car connections installed for safety and reliability.<br />
<br />
The interior of this "32 features custom tan carpet to match the gold exterior. The dash is filled with 8 Stewart Warner "Wings" gauges, again suiting the precise style of the period. Steering column is custom stainless steel and atop is a restored 1957 Chevy steering wheel. Seats were covered in outstanding white Tuck N Roll with tan piping. The car was set-up to accommodate as much leg room as possible for a channeled "32 Ford.<br />
<br />
The full stainless steel exhaust is custom made and features custom Glasspacks for a distinctive sound. Again, per the style of these cars, the exhaust exits at the rear through the body"s Rolled Pan, and beneath 1950 Pontiac taillights.<br />
<br />
A set of 1954 Mercury hubcaps add a final touch to this one-of-a-kind, unique hot rod.<br />

Few UK hot rods feature such a complete American east coast hot rod-look. The car has remained in careful storage in the Southwest of the UK, but has recently got the attention of Rodders Journal. It"s highly likely that the new owner will have little difficulty attracting the attention of other US magazines for feature car possibilities.<br />
