What, precisely, are they smoking in the Netherlands? Whatever particular strain of mood-altering foliage is doing the rounds in Holland at the moment, it's clearly strong stuff. This is the Carice Mk1, and it is the most adorably daft little electric roadster we've ever seen.
It appears to have taken its design inspiration from no less than the gorgeous Porsche 356, though is properly tiny. We're talking a kerbweight of 350kg tiny. No dimensions are available, but Carice offers the MK1 with a choice of three powertrains. And they're tiny too.
The entry level car gets a (very) small electric motor and a small battery pack with a total power output of around 20bhp and range of 70 miles (it takes just two hours to charge the battery). Then there's the option of a fearsome 54bhp electric motor and larger battery pack, which is also offered with an unspecified range extender engine on board for a 120-mile range.
It's a strict two seater, and also a strict roadster too - there is no roof at all, though some concession is made with the option of a tonneau cover. However, we are assured by Carice that its diddy Mk1 offers "sporty driving" thanks to that tiny engine and tiny kerbweight.
Prices start from £21,000, with the company working on an initial production run of ten cars. Oh, and there's also a 'junior version' available, packing a 5bhp (yes, FIVE) motor and aimed at 16 to 18-year-olds. Because, let's be honest, what self-respecting 16-year-old doesn't want a tiny, bug-eyed milkfloat that's slightly slower than walking?
