Next year will see the inaugural season of an all-electric touring car championship known as ETCR. The hope is that, because the cars will use chassis" that conform to regular combustion-powered TCR rules, manufacturers will simply be able to drop in an electric powertrain and go racing. Cupra was the first to sign up, with its 670bhp twin-motor Leon helping to set the standards for other manufacturers. Standards that include a 0-62mph time of 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 168mph. Phewf. Now though, Hyundai has revealed its competitor. This is the Veloster N ETCR. We don"t know too many specifics as of yet, other than it"ll have a mid-mounted motor driving the rear wheels. Expect there to be a hefty chunk of power, too.
