Renegades February Newsletter 2015

15th Feb 2015 - Breakfast Run
We all set off from Portsdown Hill to cruise to the Harvester Whiteley, meeting other members there. The Harvester is almost next door to where we had a breaky run at Dean’s Diner all the way back in March 2014. Although we phoned ahead to let them know we were planning on coming, we couldn't actually book tables. They said they were never busy so could get 20 of us in without any trouble . Well, we arrived and were told there would be a 45 minute wait for a table. Asking 20 people to wait for that long when there were other options was not going to be a good choice, so we went to Frankie & Benny’s. By pure luck the same manager that was running the Chichester branch was now in Whiteley!, She was as surprised as we were an was kind enough to offer us drinks on the house! The food was great, came out really fast and at a good price too. Well worth going back there again some time, and the manager said that she will have parking spaces reserved for us all.

3rd April - Wheels Day
Wheels Day by SSR is the biggest Aldershot Car Show of the year and falls on Good Friday based at Rushmore Arena, Aldershot, Hampshire. This 2015 Wheels Day will be Good Friday 3rd April. The do have a pre entry system on facebook for the first 500 cars to guarantee a place they will be parked in the show arena. However you can turn up on the day in your show car even without a pre-registration and you will be directed to a ‘show’ car park, but once this is full you will be directed to the public car park.
We are still awaiting a response from SSR in relation to a club stand. The vehicles able to go on the club stand, if given a stand, will be chosen on the same basis of the 500 pre-registered. If we are given a stand, Sarah will let members know and if people are still wanting to attend, she will need to get vehicle details to pass on to SSR. We will keep you all posted.

21st June - Custom & Hot Rod Festival at Beaulieu Museum
A single day event this year, on Fathers Day. This event will have the Solent Renegades name to it. How good is that!?!, The Victory Wheelers had decided that they didn’t want to do Beaulieu any longer, and Beaulieu wanted to find another club and we were mentioned. Keith from the Wheelers put in a very good word for us. The initial meeting went well, a draft contract has been made by Beaulieu, mainly saying we need to advertise this event in all ways we can, i.e. Facebook, forums, flyers at car shows(they supply flyers) etc. They will advertise in magazines once we have let them know a list of the best magazines to advertise this show. We need to have a good show of club cars as well, and bring in as many American and Hot Rod vehicles as possible. So what's in it for us?, well not only is it a great boost for the club name, they will buy us banners, and a few other club related items we need, this is the best way as we no longer have a club bank account. This could be a start of a great partnership with Beaulieu, and in years to come could be a weekend event again. Awesome!!.

We now have a sale section on the website called ‘classifieds’ so if you have any car parts you want to list then give it a go. So any engine parts, of vehicles you want to sell, its http://www.solent-renegades.co.uk/classifieds.php and works a little like eBay, payment you can arrange with the buyer, or via payPal, and its free to list items. Certainly worth giving ago.

Also if anyone needs stickers for their cars see Alec who has a vinyl cutter and makes them himself. Has a huge book of examples, or you can have your own custom one done.
