Mulliner – Bentley’s famous in-house coachbuilding division – has released images of its new Continental GT Convertible ahead of the car’s public debut at the Geneva Motor Show on 3 March.

In typical fashion, the firm has gone to extreme lengths to make the grand tourer as bespoke as possible, offering customers a variety of refinements to set their vehicles apart from the standard cars.

Best luxury cars to buy

Exclusive exterior features include a 10-spoke alloy design adorning the 22-inch wheels, which each house floating, self-levelling badges. Meanwhile, a unique ‘Double Diamond’ design fills the front grille.

The pattern recurs throughout the car, most notably on the tonneau roof cover, door casings and on each of the four seats. Mulliner claims each diamond within the pattern includes 712 individual stitches, amounting to almost 400,000 stitches in total.

The embroidery technique is so complex that it took 18 months to develop.

The diamond theme continues on the centre console, with its milled finish adorned by a brushed, silver Breitling clock. Even the digital display doesn’t escape treatment, with ‘precision-rendered gauges’ using the same finished and Mulliner branding.

Mood lighting is used to portray seven different themes, while Bentley’s wings are projected onto the ground using LED lamps in the door mirrors. The ‘Naim for Bentley’ audio system features 18 speakers and two Active Bass transducers powered by a 2,200-watt amplifier.

Upon taking delivery, customers will be presented with a hand-crafted presentation box containing the car’s leather-wrapped key, both of which will match the three-colour configuration specified by the buyer.

The Continental GT Mulliner Convertible will be available to order later this year, with a choice of W12 and V8 engines. The former is a 6.0-litre twin-turbo petrol that produces 626bhp, with 0-62mph completed in 3.8 seconds en route to a top speed of 207mph.

Meanwhile, the latter is a 4.0-litre unit with 542bhp at its disposal: 0-62mph takes 4.1 seconds, with the top speed given as 198mph.
