Aston Martin has moved into the world of virtual racing with the AMR-C01: a carbon fibre-bodied sim racing rig, intended for casual sim racers and real racers looking to keep sharp between events.

The hand-crafted shell is designed by Aston Martin, and mimics the nose of the brand’s real-world road and race cars, bearing the iconic grille design to the front. A range of colours, modelled on Aston’s various motorsport liveries, are offered. The carbon monocoque provides a rigid structure, which should enable the rig to remain stable at the hands of even the most ham-fisted drivers.

The reclined driving position of the slimy padded carbon-shelled race seat matches the driving position of the Valkyrie supercar, while the AMR-C01’s pedal box is electrically adjustable. The F1-style multifunction steering wheel features a screen to display lap and split times, plus gear and rev indicators.

Drivers get a wide angle of the road ahead thanks to a Samsung 49-inch curved LED display, while the rig runs on Assetto Corsa.

The rig is a result of a collaboration between Aston Martin and Curv Racing Simulators: a new sim-racing venture set up by Aston Martin Works driver Darren Turner.“The AMR-C01 is all about the love of racing.” Turner said. “We’ve created a home simulator with incredible immersion that offers users the opportunity to have a great time racing in the virtual world, from the comfort of their own home.”

The AMR-C01 is available to order now, priced at £57,500 plus taxes. The production run is limited to just 150, with deliveries due to begin in late 2020.
