The Jaguar XE SV Project 8 is already racking up the Wikipedia lists it appears in, having claimed the fastest production saloon lap of the N rburgring Nordschleife in 7m21.2s last November. Now it can claim glory over the 2.2-mile Laguna Seca raceway in California, lapping it in 1m37.54s. The 592bhp, 200mph saloon beats the previous saloon lap record by almost a second, with four-times SCCA World Challenge GT champion Randy Pobst taking to the wheel. It"s a mere six days since we found out another four-door - the silent Lucid Air electric car - put in a 1m39.30s around Laguna Seca, and it"s fair to assume that while the Project 8 was marginally quicker, it was MUCH louder.
