Remember Eagle"s E-Type recreations? Of course you do. The Speedster, unveiled first in 2011, was simply gorgeous. The Low Drag GT we drove a couple of years ago, more so.This then, is the third entry into Eagle"s E-Type line-up. It"s called the Eagle Spyder GT, and we suspect you want one immediately.Though officially announced today, it"s actually been on the um, drawing board since 2011. "Our Speedster customers said long ago, if only it had a hood"," Eagle"s Paul Brace tells TG.So the first sketches were done way back in 2011, and it"s been planned for the last two years. Eagle of course, has been in the E-Type business for 31 years, and still buys and sells original E-Types, as well as complete and "compromise free" restorations built from original models. And the company"s now three-car line-up of Speedster (they"ve sold five, with one bodyshell remaining), Low Drag GT (three sold to date) and Spyder GT are also restorations, but with significant performance enhancements.Underpinning everything is an all-aluminium shell based on the original, with a raked windscreen and folding roof. Eagle tells us the GT has all the "poise and performance" of the Low Drag.
