Cars we've owned?

Brill! I remember the Hillman Imp well!
A friend of my Mum's had one when I was a kid. I loved riding in it.

rare now

An old friend of mine used to race 'Davrins' which has some Imp mechaniclals in it. he used to use a specialist in the New Foest for engine stuff.

Nice one Chris! Did you have a favourite among them?

Not really Will, they all had different aspects to them however, the one I didn't list as this is all about cars was my beloved Yamaha SS.

You make a good point Chris, bikes are just as evocative as cars for many of us.
What was the SS? Like an FS1E (or Fizzy)?

Exactly that! Early FS1E's were called SS (Sixteener special) but had to change the name due to Honda already having a SS model. Visually very similar but the Honda had a useless 4 stroke motor. Wish I still had mine, with low engine and frame numbers - 0055.

Saw this post and it got me thinking, Ive owned a few over the years, as follows

First Car was a Ford Corsair 1500, rotten a s a pear but so much fun.
Cortina MK3 GXL got it as it was overheating, found someone had put the thermostat in backwards 2.0 Pinto
Granada MK1 3.0 auto saloon
MK2 Cortina Silverfox, most of the paint washed off.
MK1 Cortina 1200 super
Various Fiat 500 and 126's made a tidy bundle repairing and selling.
VW Camper with the 2.0ltr engine
Transit Camper
Rover SD1 all variants, wish I had hung on to a few of them.
Range Rover Classic two door
VW Minibus
Transit Minibus
Series Diesel Landrover, various spare parts made into a series, completely rebuilt it
Mk1 Land rover Discovery
Kia Sedona first and only brand new car
Land Rover Discovery TD5 wrapped it round an Oak tree
Range Rover P38 The best vehicle I ever owned, yes it went wrong, but it was fixable, took it to France, french would not register it as it ran on LPG or GPL in France, very long story, but bought back to UK and sold.
Citroen Picasso bought in uk to run back to France 2.0 diesel, crammed it full of UK goodies, went so well the daughter took it on, sold it when she took on the Voyager which she still has.
Chrysler Voyager again loaded up with uk goodies and driven to France agan the Daughter now runs it.
VW Touareg, the start of my diff problems.
Citroen C Crosser, don't ask, it was a Mitsubishi outlander in disguise, wrote it of when found a large post in a bush.
Jeep KJ, another Diff saga
BMW X5 3.0 auto, and yes, front diff went, current vehicle, seems to be behaving, but we all knows what that means, its on standby to financially cripple me !!!!

Wifes cars, since we met 22 years ago
Rover 416 she killed the K series chocolate engine
Chrysler Neon, 2.0 fantastic in a straight line..................................
Rover 45 2.0 Diesel

Thanks for posting. Wow! A good and varied selection of cars there. And some interesting and funny stories with many of them too 👍.
One of my favourites in there, the MK1 Granada. My first Granada was a 2.5 GXL auto in dark metallic green with a black vinyl roof and cream interior! I bought it from a mate as a financial write off and I was actually a front seat passenger in it when it happened. We were sitting stationary in traffic when a woman in a VW Jetta rear ended us! lol

Thank you, I have forgotten a few I also had a Mk1 granada Ghia Estate, the engine was seized when I got it, water ingress to drivers rear cylinder which had caused the piston to melt? and the rings seized, Still have the top of the piston to this day LOL

And a Kit car a Dutton Sierra estate, based on a MK1 Escort running gear, I put a 2.0 pinto with 5 speed box in it, very difficult to handle when WET!!!

Porsch 924

Can I add boats as well?

Had a 14ft speed boat with a Volvo stern drive, I made up plates and mated it to a 1,9 Peugeot Diesel, really did go well BUT overheated terribly.

Then a Shakespeare Arrow Flight? Not sure on the make, it had a V8 in it at one time, but when I picked it up the engine was missing, ought another boat with a Mercruiser 466 4 pot and swapped it all over, including the stern drive, first time out she dropped a valve, and cracked a liner right open, when searching for another block and spares I was told the 466 was 1/2 a yank V8 so approached American car spares in London, and yup they had all the gaskets, and a couple of valves, the head gasket had to come from Mercruiser though.

Yeah, definitely OK re-adding boats 👍👍. I'm sure a few of us have had some involvement with them, especially with the club being based on the south coast. You sure appear to have had some fun with them 👍🙂
I'm into boats too. I have owned a few and still have one now. I had a Fletcher GTO Arrowflyte (actual boat pictured below). Was that like yours? Mine had a Suzuki DT55 outboard and was great fun.

Hi, Mine I think was 20ft, inboard mercruiser, it originally had a V8 so would of been a bit of a flying machine, I got it without its engine, so bought a rough old boat with a 466 engine and stern drive and swapped them over, went well, except or the first outing when she dropped a valve, split the liner wide open, first pic was the donor boat, actually sold it for more than I paid, without its engine. Other pics are of its new engine, and it actually running
