• Wheels Day 2018

Wheels Day is organised by the Surrey Street Rodders and will be the 44th year of the event. Its the biggest Aldershot Car Show of the year and falls on Good Friday based at Rushmore Arena, Aldershot, Hampshire. Its a Hot rod and custom car show and it was a great success again last year.

So thanks to the Surrey Street Rodders for this event. The Surrey Street Rodders have a Facebook Page for this event.

    PRE ENTRY NOW OPEN
To show your car you had to pre-enter at www.wheelsday.net. All entrants will go through the same selection process with key SSR committee members choosing each vehicle on its individual merits.

Tickets will again be priced at £10 per vehicle and will permit entry of your car, the driver and one passenger to the event to park in the show arena. (Extra passenger tickets will be available to purchase at the gate for £5 per adult.) If you are chosen to be awarded a show ticket you will be notified via email with a link to pay for your ticket online within 7 days. Failure to do so will void your selection and your ticket will be offered to another applicant. Arena passes will be shipped in the first week of April to your registered address.

2018 will be 44th Wheels Day. Hopefully many more to come too. We took two cameras with us to Wheels Day in 2016 and 2015 and a good deal of photos in the links below.

The Solent Renegades meet at Morrisons in Horndean for a convoy up to Wheels Day, we leave Morrisons at 8am, last year we pretty much stayed all together all the way up but got split up on the entry to Wheels Day which was to be expected.

The Wheels Day show is always a great show to start the year off with. There is a pre-entry system, so whether you enter as a club stand or single entry, tickets have to be pre-bought. This year I believe it is best that all Renegades enter as an individual entrant, Single Car Arena Pass Registration – Wheels Day 201. There is still a good chance we can all park together like previous years.

I have entered individual, and got the response of:-
Thank you for registering for Wheels Day 2018!
We will review your registration and if accepted we will contact you via email by March 1st with details on how and by when to pay for your ticket.

      Good Luck!

It seems difficult to get in, I was going to ask if you wanted to meet int he same place as last year, but I wont need to ask that now. We will be getting a club stand for Wings & Wheels, will be great to catch up there again.

I know I’m the minority on this but I don’t like Rushmoor.
I first attended at Rushmoor in about 1994, and didn’t like it. I didn’t attend wheels day again until it moved to Dunsfold for the one year and that show was great. I’ve attended Rushmoor since but it’s never been a favourite of mine so I’ll not take up a space just because.....

Got my pass, a few other club members have passes, but seen the weather forecast and wont be going.

We are meeting up at Morrisons in Horndean to leave at 8am. I'll go up, and will take my wellies if need be. Good opportunity for photos, while I'll get up on here.

Fingers crosses for a good day there.

Why don't you like rushmoor then?
show cars in the ring middle and some round the outside part of the ring all the trade stands go around the outside always a good mix of cars and trade stands yes can be muddy (been there when muddy) but also when bright suuny weather good parking for spectators resomable price but i think since the 40th event at dunfold yes was there with the TA, very good event but ques for everyone thing with return to rush moor they have struggled to gain momentam again as to previous show this might be to do with being army land ? we were thinking of going in daily as it fell at the end of march didnt want to tax car till april but as many ( not on here mind you lol) have said weather not looking to good so see friday morning,

A message SSR just posted on Facetube:-

With the SSR a day away from site preparation for Fridays show we'd just like to clarify a few points for people.
No pass, no entry for your show car! There are no exceptions. If you don't have your car pass with you, you will be sent to public parking.
Show car gates open at 8.30, public viewing entry opens from 10am.
Adult viewing entry is £8 per adult, OAPs are £5 and children free. If you look good for your age or not please don't be offended if your asked to prove your age.
The show will run rain or shine. Obviously the show is on grass so please avoid spinning your tyres and drive sensibly. We are looking at ways to cut down on mud where we can but please dress appropriately. You will be parked as best as we can to avoid you getting stuck. If your worried about parking if your vehicle is heavy please speak to a Marshall. Heavy vehicles (buses, trucks, etc) park at the top of the hill to avoid becoming stuck.
      Many thanks,
      SSR

The field location is not ideal for the time of year with mud etc.
I always thought the layout was haphazard.
As for queues at Dunsfold, I can’t blame SRR at all. No-one could have forecast that turn-out.

      New message from SSR
Have you seen this *** ATTENTION ALL SSR MEMBERS AND PEOPLE ATTENDING WHEELSDAY ***

Due to a burst pipe under the hill on site coupled with the terrible weather we have had leading up to the show, the show field is heavily water logged. We have spent the whole day trying to work the show around the water with all the extra rain and hale that continued to fall but it continues to spread as I write this.
Although all the traders are here and the show will go on in some capacity we ask everyone who is thinking of coming to think carefully. We have only 1/2 the arena as I write this available for parking although this could become worse dependant on the weather tonight.
Obviously we run the show as a charitable event but should you decide not to attend and wish to have a refund for your ticket please email help@wheelsday.net a copy of your PayPal transaction or the details you used to pay with so I can track your payment and we will refund those who request it next week.
Should you still wish to attend then please bare the weather in mind. We will try our hardest to park people sensibly who wish to attend.
There will be no club stand parking. Those that do attend will be parked as they arrive with single entry cars.

It was a tad wet, many cars needed a push to get moving.

      Sorting out photos now....

I got a little stuck, got 4 people to give me a push which done the trick. Luckily i didn't dig into the mud as have very little ground clearance.
