• New years day at Booklands Museum 2016

Every New Years day Brooklands museum put on a great show, for 2016 it fell on Friday, 1st January. Gates open at 9am and goes on till 4pm

All classic, modern classic, vintage, veteran and super cars, motorcycles and commercial vehicles are welcome for possibly the largest New Year’s Day gathering in the South East!

Entry was via the Campbell Gate off Brooklands Road for all types of classics and pre-booked car clubs (and interesting or special younger vehicles, including supercars) - parking was in and around the Paddock, on the Finishing Straight and Members’ Banking for these vehicles (subject to space).

A couple of Renegades turned up to this. Left home at 8.30am. Met Chris in the mustang on the way. Arrived just after 9am, to join the queue to get in. Saw Nigel there and a couple of other club members there. Very well marshalled getting us all in off the road as fast as possible. I've never been to Brooklands before and it was getting better just sitting in the queue, soo many cars to see, I turned up on my 2000 Pontiac Trans-am and was happy to be accepted for the show, its not a classic car, so was half expecting to be in the public car park. Followed the queue towards the banked curve, seeing cars driving up the bank. The marshal saw how low my car was and directed me to park further along.

The museum was great too, seeing the old wooden air-planes, also old Formula One cars. What a great day out, certainly one for the calender next year too. Around 7000 people were there and 1568 vehicles, which was 40% up on last year.

Gates opened at 9am and the Museum buildings and displays are open from 10am - 4pm; normal Museum admission prices apply.

Over 300 photos, didn't get everything, like missing out the line of Mazda MX5's. There were some immaculate cars there like the Metro and an old fiesta that looked brand new. Looking forward to seeing the photos complete, they are always great. I get to see how it looked before and after adjustments, there is a huge difference.
